Another handy mesh modeling tool in Blender is Subdivide. You can select faces or edges and tell Blender to cut it up into equal parts. Like Loop Cut and Slide, Blender will automatically adjust the geometry of your object to add any new faces, vertices, and edges.
By default, any edges are cut in half. If I select the front face of my window, a rectangle with four edges, and subdivide it, all four of those edges are cut in half. My single face becomes four. If I subdivide again, all the edges for those four faces are also cut in half and I end up with sixteen faces:
