When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Planning ahead for fingers with Loop Cut and Slide
At this point, I have another choice. I could start to use the Extrude tool to model the shape of the hand. Later, I could use Loop Cut and Slide to add more edges and placeholders for my fingers. I decide to go ahead and get all those extra vertices and edges right now and do a multi-cut Loop Cut and Slide like we did with the shutters in Chapter 9, Mesh Modeling and Positioning the Details. The steps are as follows:
- With the cube selected, switch to Edit Mode.
- In the Tool Shelf on the left side of the screen, under the Tools tab, click on Loop Cut and Slide.
- The purple preview line appears. Scroll the mouse wheel up to increase the cuts. In this case, I decide to go with four cuts so ...
