Blender gives you many options to determine how far to space your copies apart. For our purposes, we'll focus on the Relative Offset and Constant Offset that can be used independently or together.
The Relative Offset defines the spacing based on a percentage of the object's size. 1.0 is the same as 100% of the object's original dimension. If my object is 1.5mm long, a Relative Offset of 1.0 would move the copy over exactly 1.5mm. The copy begins where the original ends. In the case of our brick, it would produce a large rectangle. Increasing that value would increase the gap between the bricks:
