Creating a window as a separate object

Starting the new window is as easy as adding a new cube and making it the proper size. The X and Z dimensions I will set based on the reference image. In regard to the Y dimension, this is going to reflect my detail height, how far off the main house the details will be raised. I think back to the considerations in Chapter 1, Thinking about Design Requirements, and and my printer's capabilities. I'm going to make most of my detailing 0.5 mm high.

The steps to add and size the new window are as follows:

1. If necessary, switch to Object Mode and left-click to move your 3D Cursor to roughly where you wish to add the new window
