Getting the job done is the primary purpose of most taskoriented groups. Even relationship-focused groups have some task aspects. In this chapter, I’ve covered the process from getting started to closing the meeting and collecting feedback. Sections on the use of ground rules and appropriate techniques and ways to help a group maintain focus are included. I also described patterns of performance over time and group task roles. The next chapter focuses on building relationships and climate.
