Perceivable

Can users understand the content? This helps us to keep in mind that just because something is noticeable with a sense, such as vision, this does not mean that all users can perceive it. To make this work, you need to include a segment in all research so you can establish how those with disabilities use the internet. Don't reinvent the wheel—find examples of websites that provide for accessibility and learn from them. Make sure to:

  • Offer text alternatives to non-text content
  • Offer subtitles and other alternatives to multimedia content
  • Create content that can be presented in different ways, including assistive technologies, without losing meaning
  • Make it easy for users to watch and listen to content
