Management network

The management network means the network that will be used by the NMS systems to reach the network devices and vice-versa.

Some organizations build a complete out-of-band (OOB) management network, which means that the network used to communicate between the network devices and the NMS systems and agents in the Network Operations Center (NOC) is totally separate from the network used to forward user traffic. This ensures that any outage on the user data plane does not lead to the devices being unmanageable and preventing any corrective action from being taken by the NOC teams. OOB management networks separate the user and management planes on the end-to-end network.
