Multilink PPP

Multilink PPP (MLPPP) is used to create a bundle of links, and treat them as a single link at the network layer. This helps reduce the number of interfaces that have to be configured at the network layer and reduces the protocol state on the router. MLPPP performs the fragmenting, reassembling, and sequencing of datagrams across multiple PPP links, and creates a single bundle with n*2 Mbps bandwidth. MLPPP is the opposite of FR encapsulation, as shown in the following figure:
