Stacking switches

A switch stack is a set of up to eight stacking-capable switches connected through their stack ports. A switch stack has up to eight stack members connected through their stack ports. A switch stack always has one stack master. The stack master controls the operation of the switch stack and is the single point of stack-wide management.

A switch stack is created by connecting the special ports called stack ports on the switch in a specified manner. A switch stack should have all the switches of the same model and should run the same IOS version.
