Network traffic patterns are an important consideration when implementing AD DS, and a firm understanding of the “pipes” that exist in an organization’s network is warranted. If all remote sites are connected by 30Mb WAN links, for example, there will be fewer replication concerns than if network traffic passes through a slow link.
With this point in mind, mapping out network topology is one of the first steps in creating a functional and reliable replication topology.
