The File Transfer Protocol (FTP) service is one of the oldest services available to transfer files between systems. FTP is still commonly used to make large files available and to present remote users and customers alike with a simple way to send data to the organization. FTP is very efficient, and that is why it still has a place in today’s computer and network infrastructure. Standard FTP, however, is not secure by default and should be used only with secure and monitored connections.
