I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

The following are best practices from this chapter:
• Take the time to understand the goals of the project (What will the organization gain by doing the upgrade?) and the scope of the project (What is included and what is excluded from the project?).
• Understand all the applications that connect with Windows Server 2012 and whether they are critical, near-critical, or simply nice to have.
• Accelerate a migration to Windows Server 2012 by using the MAP toolkit.
• Document the research process for each application because this will prove to be very valuable if problems are encountered during the testing process.
