It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

• Read-only domain controllers—Windows Server 2012 offers the functionality of having a read-only domain controller (RODC) in a branch office location. An RODC is an additional domain controller for an Active Directory domain that contains read-only partitions of the Active Directory database. RODCs are designed to be deployed in branch office environments with relatively few users, limited network bandwidth, and minimal local IT knowledge.
