The subterranean walkway that carries pas-
sengers to and from their arrival and departure
gates between concourses at O’Hare Inter-
national Airport’s United Airlines Terminal 1,
designed by architects Murphy/Jahn (est. 1981),
is not only a tunnel but also a visual adventure
unto itself.

derground passageway is framed on each of its
