In the fall of 1960, the Chase Manhattan Bank
began using their new corporate symbol—a
simple octagon that is still in use today as the
primary visual focal point of the JPMorgan
Chase worldwide brand. Created by the design
firm Chermayeff & Geismar Associates (est.
1957), it is one of the first corporate symbols
to rely solely on an abstract modernist form
