Saving Master Documents as Web Pages

If you create a master document in Word's DOC format, and then resave the master document as a Web (HTML [page 384]) page, Word saves each subdocument as a Web page. Word gives you a choice about how it does this:

• Word can overwrite your existing DOC file in HTML format (while still retaining the DOC extension). This eliminates the possibility that a user might edit the wrong file, since only one file exists—but before you post the file to your Web server, you may have to change its extension to HTM or HTML.

• Or, Word can create a copy of your DOC file with an HTM extension, leaving the original DOC file on your hard disk (but linking to the HTM file rather than the DOC file). This gives you a convenient backup; ...
