It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Using Foreign Dates and Times in Your Documents
In Windows 98 and NT, Regional Settings are controlled through the Regional Settings Control Panel. In addition to date and time settings, Regional Settings also control the way applications format numbers and currency values. However, after you install Word, you can change these defaults without changing them "Windows-wide."

To change these settings only for Word, but not for the rest of Windows, follow these steps:
