The STYLEREF field creates dictionary-style headers that appear on the top of pages in reference books; for example:
incandescence—incisive
This is a challenging task in most word processors, because any edit can change the words that appear at the top and bottom of practically every page. The STYLEREF field makes it possible to automate the process.

| \l | Finds the last paragraph on a page that uses a specific style. Displays the contents of that paragraph, up to 255 characters, as the field results. |
| \n | Inserts a paragraph number from the referenced paragraph. |
