AutoNumOut

The AutoNumOut field automatically numbers paragraphs of text, using Word's outline numbering scheme, typically established through the Outline Numbered tab of the Format, Bullets and Numbering dialog box.

Note

Most of the paragraph numbering you need to create can be handled more efficiently by clicking the Numbering button on the Standard toolbar, or by working in the Format, Bullets and Numbering dialog box. Moreover, the AUTONUMOUT field has largely been replaced by the more flexible LISTNUM field, also covered in this field reference.
