The NUMWORDS field displays the number of words in the document.

{ NUMWORDS [Switches] }

NUMWORDS supports numeric formatting switches (see the "Numeric Formatting Switches" section earlier in this chapter), sequence formatting switches (see the "Sequence Formatting Switches" section earlier in this chapter), and capitalization formatting switches (see the "Capitalization Formatting Switches" section earlier in this chapter).
