It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

の提供を開始しています。 民間企業ではクラウドサービスの国内データセ
ンター提供（AWS は2011 年、Azure は2014 年）や、「デジタル・ガバメン
ト推進方針」に基づき2018 年に公表された「政府情報システムにおける
クラウドサービスの利用に係る基本方針」で提唱されたクラウド・バイ・
デフォルト原則（図1-11）がクラウド利用の要因の 1 つになりました。
仮想サーバー時代は事前にハードウェアを調達しておく必要がありまし
たが、クラウド事業者の登場により購入するものから使用するものへと変
化しました。必要なサーバーを作って捨てられるようになり、アイデアの
実現性の確認（PoC・7-8参照）が素早く低コストでできるようになりま
した。
クラウドベンダーでは、より高度な仮想化によりリソース制御を行って
います。 一例として、次のようなしくみがあります（図 1-12）。

クレジット……CPUやネットワーク帯域、ハードディスクI/Oの一時
的な増加を制御して突発的な負荷に対応できるしくみ
●
クォータ……単位時間当たりの処理回数や実行時間の上限を設けるよ
うな制御を行うことで、提供するサービスに効率的にリソースを割り
当てるしくみ
このように利用量の変動にフィットするしくみが実装されています。
