DaaSとは、Desktop as a Serviceの略です。デスクトップ環境がサー
ビスとして提供される形態のことを指します。サービスを利用する形とな
るため、利用する企業や団体は、自社でホストサーバーなどを構築する必
要がなく、運用や管理のわずらわしさから解放されます（図5-5）。
DaaSはクラウド型で提供されます。利用者はDaaSクラウドに対して、
自分自身のデバイスからネットワーク経由で接続し、専用の仮想マシンを
利用します。接続するためのデバイスは、他の方式と同様に利用者側で用
意する必要があります。また、サービス提供者が定める仕様によって、オ
ンプレミス（データセンター型を含む）と比較して、カスタマイズの柔軟
性が劣る場合があります。5-4 で解説する注意ポイントも考慮して、適切
なサービスプロバイダを選定する必要があります。
国内のDaaS市場は活況で、2022 年の売上は1,000 億円を超えていま
す。最近ではパブリッククラウドを利用したサービスも増えています。
DaaS を提供する国内有力ベンダーのシェアは、1 位が NTT データ、2 位が
富士通、次いで日鉄ソリューションズ、NEC、IIJと続きます。
VDI方式とDaaS方式は提供方法が異なる
ここまでに、いくつかのデスクトップ仮想化方式を確認してきました。
ここでは、特に混同しがちな、VDI方式とDaaS方式の違いについて説明
