It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

IPSec-VPNは、専用のクライアントソフトウェアを使用し、Internet
Protocol Security（IPSec）プロトコルによって暗号化されたトンネルを構
築することで、リモートユーザーが企業のネットワークに安全にアクセス
できるようにする技術です。IPSec-VPNは、ネットワーク層でVPNトンネ
ルが作成されます。プロトコルに依存せず、HTTPやFTPなどのアプリケ
ーションも意識することなく利用できます。ただし、IPSec-VPN はクライ
アントソフトウェアが必要なため、SSL-VPNより高度なセキュリティを実
現できます。

IPSec-VPN は企業や、本社と支社を結ぶ各拠点間通信で利用されること
が多いです（図3-10）。拠点ごとに設置したVPN用ルータ同士を接続する
ことで、容易に暗号化されたトンネルを作成するため、データの盗聴や改
ざん、なりすまし攻撃などから通信を保護できます。
また、リモート環境からインターネットを介して社内の業務サーバーに
アクセスするために利用されます。近年リモートワークが増えている中、
社員の端末にクライアントソフトウェアをインストールし、企業に設置し
