So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

ホストOS型のサーバー仮想化は、新しい設備投資なしに現在利用して
いるPCに導入できます。仮想化ソフトウェアは、他のアプリケーション
と同様にホストOSにインストールできるため、導入が容易です。また、
「Oracle VM VirtualBox」や「VMware Workstation Player」などの仮想化ソ
フトウェアは、個人利用や教育目的の場合は無償で利用できるため、導入
が簡単なところが利点です。これらのソフトウェアを使用することで、仮
想サーバーを構築し、直感的な画面操作で管理できます（図2-3）。
その他、ゲストOSとしてインストールできるOSが豊富なのもホスト
OS型の仮想化のメリットです。Windows、Linux、Solaris、Mac OSな
ど、多くのOSが利用可能です。 ただし、OSライセンスを保有している
必要があり、そのための費用がかかる点には注意が必要です。
手元に1 台しかPCがなくても、仮想化ソフトウェアを利用することで
複数のゲストOSを利用できます。ただし、一度に多くのゲストOSを動
作させると、PCのリソース消費が多くなり処理速度が低下する可能性が
あるため、注意する必要があります。
構築した仮想サーバーやゲストOSは、サーバー単体の動作確認や、複
数のゲストOSを用意してシステム間の動作検証や実機の操作確認などに
よく利用されます。サーバー仮想化が容易であるため、検証環境を迅速に
構築できる点が大きな利点です。また、サーバーの仮想化に初めて触れて
