Edit → Paste
Synopsis
Edit → Paste inserts the item most recently added to the Clipboard at the insertion point. The item also remains in the Clipboard. Paste previous entries in the Clipboard by opening the Clipboard Toolbar (View → Toolbars → Clipboard) and clicking the button for the desired item.
Note
Items assume the format of the location where they are pasted. Alter the format of an item while pasting it using Edit → Paste Special. This command is discussed in the next section.
The result from pasting a selection depends largely on how text is selected before cutting or copying it. For example, copy a paragraph by dragging the selection over all of the words in that paragraph and use the copy command. When the selection is pasted, it assumes the formatting dictated by the location in which you paste it. If you select the source paragraph by triple-clicking (this selects the whole paragraph, including the paragraph mark), the formatting of the original paragraph is also transferred to the new location. See Chapter 2, for details about how styles and other formats are saved in the paragraph mark.
