In the section of ROS wiki devoted to Integrated Development Environments (http://wiki.ros.org/IDEs) are described the currently available IDEs for ROS—a total of 15 IDEs exist at the time of writing this book. Out of all of these options, we have selected to work with RoboWare Studio because of the following factors:
- It is a fork of Visual Studio Code (VSC), the general-purpose and customizable IDE by Microsoft that is extensively used in the developer community. It is open source, light, easy to use and offers lots of contributed plugins, making it possible to customize the IDE environment to your own specific needs.
