Geoprocessing services expose the analytical capabilities of ArcGIS Desktop over the internet through a geoprocessing task. A geoprocessing task is the result of a geoprocessing tool that has been published to ArcGIS Server. Geoprocessing services allow you to share complex models and scripts in an abstract way that makes it easy for users to utilize them without having to worry about how the process runs and instead focus on results.
In ArcGIS Pro, a web tool is akin to a geoprocessing tool in ArcGIS Desktop. With a web tool, you share an analysis first run as a custom model or script tool in Pro. A web tool can process data using one or more tools and return output as features, maps, reports, or files.
