Registered data sources

We discussed registering data sources in Chapter 3, Publishing Content. As an administrator, you have control over what data sources are registered with the ArcGIS Server and if publishers can copy content over to the server during the service publication process (refer to Chapter 4, ArcGIS Server Administration and the blockDataCopy parameter). Armed with these tools, you can effectively lock down the data sources that your publishers can utilize in their map service MXDs, forcing them to only use approved data stores.
