Card sorting
Card sorting is a research technique that makes it easy and affordable to find patterns in the way users organize content. These patterns are called the mental model of the user and they help UX designers to evaluate the IA of a website. Card sorting is not the ultimate technique to find the perfect IA of a website, it's merely a tool to understand the existing content and its flaws, or the potential strengths of future content on a website.
