I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Conducting a pilot test
Once you have prepared your research study, conduct a pilot test with at least one, but ideally a few, representative users to check that it works the way you expect it to. This will help you in a number of ways, depending on the research:
- Make sure the instructions are understandable to participants
- Test the difficulty and timing of your tasks to ensure that you have created them at the correct level and they do not take too long
- Practice your script and facilitation before the real test
- Make sure that you have remembered everything that you will need, and that it all works properly
Schedule pilot tests for some time before the real study, so that you have time to fix problems with tasks, scripts, or equipment. ...
