統合テストは作成やメンテナンスのコストが高くなる傾向がありま
す。もしこれらのコストが、得られる効果に対して見合わないのであれ
ば、統合テストは極小化してE2Eテストでカバーするという選択肢も
あります。
E2Eテストのポイント
E2Eテストは作成コストと実行コストが大きいため、品質保証のため
と言ってテスト数を増やし過ぎると、開発生産性やその他の品質特性を
下げる要因となってしまいます。従って、E2Eテストの目的と範囲は明
確にしておく必要があります。
一般に、ユニットテストとインテグレーションテストは、新たに開発
したプログラムが正しく動作することの検証と、既に開発済みのプログ
ラムが退行することなく引き続き正しく動作することの検証との二つの
役割を兼ねます（後者はリグレッションテストのことです）。これに対
して、E2Eテストの役割は基本的にはリグレッションテストに限定され
