Vidicon is a simple, compact TV camera tube that is widely used in education, medicine, industry, aerospace and oceanography. It is, perhaps, the most popular camera tube in television industry. During the past several years, much effort has been spent in developing new photoconductive materials for use in its internal construction. Today with these new materials, some vidicons can operate in exposure to direct sunlight or in near total darkness.
