It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

ツ）という偽名を使っている。この体験談を理解するためには、まずこの名前がなぜ面白いかを知ってもら
わなくてはならない。
•「Thor」（トール）は、古代北欧の神の名前で、最近ではスーパーヒーローのキャラクターの名前に使
われている。世界には、Thor という名前を持つ人は少数だが無視できない程度にいる。その多くは
おそらくノルウェー人だろう。
•「Rabinowitz」（ラビノウィッツ）は、ユダヤ系ポーランド人の姓で、「ラビの息子」という意味を持
つ。世界には、「Rabinowitz」という名前を持つ人は少数だが無視できない程度にいるが、ノルウェー
人は 1 人もいないだろう。
要するに、「Thor Rabinowitz」という名前の人物は実在しない。試しに「Thor Rabinowitz」を Google で
検索すればすぐに確かめられる。2 つの名前は「文化的互換性」がまったくないので、このような名前を聞
くと、「認知的不協和」を引き起こしてしまう。
