Polyglot development
A serverless architecture allows for polyglot development. Development teams are provided with the ability to select best-of-breed languages and runtimes based on the required functionality. It also gives teams a chance to easily try out and experiment with different technologies. Although there are limitations as to which languages are available to you, cloud providers are expanding their selection so that different languages can be used for the different functions being developed.
