Secure by default, also known as security by default, is the concept of delivering your software in a state that maximizes security out of the box, without requiring any changes. If the software is configurable in a way that allows security to be reduced, that should be up to the user to change rather than be the default behavior. For example, if a software application allows two-factor authentication (2FA) to be configured, it should be turned on by default.
