A voting system can be used to report faults. One such approach is triple modular redundancy (TMR), sometimes called triple-mode redundancy. It utilizes three components to perform the same process.
Voting logic will compare the results to produce a single output. If all three components produce the same output, then everything worked as expected. If two out of three components agree, they can correct the fault by outvoting the third component. A fault is then reported on the third component.
