Agile software development methodologies were created by leading software professionals based on their real-world experiences developing software. They address many of the limitations of traditional development methodologies, and as a result, have become much more popular.
There are a variety of different types of Agile processes available, such as Scrum, Kanban, Extreme Programming (XP), and Crystal. They each have their differences, but in essence, they all focus on being adaptable to change. They attempt to find a balance between not having enough processes and having too much of them.
