Working on your own project

We have already discussed working on open source projects and trying out new technologies. Both of these activities will allow you to keep your programming skills sharp. In addition to those, working on your own side project is another way you can grow as a software architect.

The benefits of working on a side project are very similar to those of working on an open source project. In fact, your side project may be an open source project. However, you may not always find an existing open source project that you want to work on and you may not have any ideas for a new open source project.
