Spoofing identity is the act of representing yourself as someone else. For example, if an attacker gained access to someone's authentication information, such as their username and password, they could use it to spoof an identity. Other examples of spoofing identity are forging an email address or the modification of header information in a request with the purpose of gaining unauthorized access to a software system.
