A JWT is an open standard for representing claims between two parties. It is lightweight, making it efficient to transport. The following is an example of a JWT:
eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiIsInR5cCI6IkpXVCJ9.eyJpc3MiOiJleGFtcGxlLmNvbSIsImp0aSI6ImMxZDA2YWQxLTRkMTUtNGY1Mi04YmMzLWMwZmVlODI1NDA5OSIsIm5hbWUiOiJKb2huIFNtaXRoIiwiaWF0IjoxNTU1OTk4NjEwLCJleHAiOjE1NTg1OTA2MTB9.29WdHTGR5egA5_Q4N9WXtQHO-hJydVJou-YiQYQpkq8
Each JWT has three parts:
The three parts are concatenated together with each part separated by a dot (period). If you look closely at the JWT above, you will find the three periods and therefore will be able to determine the three parts.
