Sanity test/sanity checking
This fault detection technique uses a test to evaluate if a result from a process is reasonable and possible. If the test determines that the result is not, it can report a fault. Such a test is a simple one, and not intended to test for a wide variety of issues. It is used to detect obvious faults in a quick way.
