Security is a significant cross-cutting concern. It includes the authentication of users and the authorization of the operations the user can perform with the software application. Once a user is authenticated and their identity is known, their authorization must be checked in order to determine which operations they are capable of executing within the application.
We will be examining security-related topics, including authentication and authorization, in Chapter 11, Security Considerations.
