Maintaining portability

Once a software system is made portable for different environments, it is important that portability is maintained. As changes are made to the software as part of maintenance, it is possible those modifications could affect portability.

While making modifications, consideration must be given as to whether or not it will affect portability. During testing, it must be verified that any changes made did not adversely affect any requirements for portability.
