Freeform Between Footsteps

Suppose you want your character to run for a few steps before taking off and flying in the air, then land and take a few more steps. If you simply set up footsteps and make the biped airborne while it’s supposed to be flying, the biped will bounce high into the air and can’t be brought down again (as you saw in the Chapter 5 exercise “Leapin’ Biped”). This happens because the airborne period is under the control of gravity, and subject to the calculations of the footstep method of animation.
