Placing Character Studio’s footsteps icons in your scene makes your biped skeleton move from one footstep to the next.

For cartoon, game, or other types of animation, you can use footsteps as a quick way to get some action going with the biped. Many animators use footsteps as a starting point for their animation and then convert the footsteps to freeform mode so they can adjust the animation to their needs.

One great benefit of footsteps is that they force the biped’s motions to follow natural laws of time and space.
