Comparing Motion Mixer and Motion Flow

The Motion Mixer allows you to separate and combine pieces of motion (animation) and mix them together as you like. Similar to a video editing program, the Mixer is a single, powerful tool for nonlinear editing of animation files.

Motion Flow comprises a set of tools for combining motions. With Motion Flow, you place BIP files on a graph and link them via transitions from one motion to another.

In 3ds Max 5 and prior versions, Motion Flow was the only method available for combining motions. The Motion Mixer was introduced as a quicker, easier method for straight motion sequencing with transitions.
