I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
The "What if?" game
A great game to play with yourself while you are working out what is that deeper reason for wanting to ask for a salary increase is the "What if?" game. Here is how it works:
Pick something you enjoy doing. Let's say you love to travel but currently, due to budgetary limitations, you have to plan your holidays to be local and within a strict budget.
With this game, you could simply ask yourself the following question:
- What if I could go on an overseas holiday every year with my family when I earn X% more as a CBAP® professional?
Or, perhaps you want to study something again but just don't feel you can justify the expense of joining university again. You could, therefore, ask yourself the following question:
- What if ...
