Requirements classification schema

There are four main types of requirements defined by the BABOK® Guide v3.0. These are fundamental to business analysis and require you to fully understand each classification entirely. They include the following:

• Business requirements
• Stakeholder requirements
• Solution requirements
• Transition requirements

Solution requirements are also further defined into two subtypes: functional requirements and non-functional requirements (also known as quality of service requirements).

In order to implement the BABOK® v3 Guide Requirements Classification Schema, you will need to assess and map the levels of requirements to your existing requirements processes and the resulting requirements documents.
