It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

ソフトウェアの世界では、囲い込み（またはクローズプラットフォーム）とはア
プリケーションやサービス、データや他のコンテンツなどへのユーザーによるア
クセスをサービス提供者が制御し、アクセスの許可や禁止を行うようなシステム
のことを指します。ComcastやBarnes & Noble（Nookというタブレットだけから
しかアクセスできないように制限している）、Apple（おそらく最もよく知られた
囲い込みの例）などが例に挙げられるでしょう。
オープンプラットフォームはそれとは逆に、システムのコンテンツやサービス
へ無制限にアクセスできます。オープンスタンダード（APIを使って実現されるこ
