Preview the gadget, and if you like the results, save it by selecting File→Save As from the editor
gadget menu. You can opt to use Google’s hosting solution for this. Choose any lename for your
sample, like hello2.xml. You will see this lename displayed in the top right of your editor. Click the
link to open the URL in a new window, and the address may look similar to the following:
http://hosting.gmodules.com/ig/gadgets/file/122710312740571178902/hello2.xml
Copy the address you are seeing and paste it into the box within the developer helper gadget (the
gadget titled “My Gadgets”). Clicking the Add button will now show your gadget on the iGoogle page.
At this point, you can share the gadget with anyone else, or read through Google’s tutorial at http://
google.com/apis/gadgets/docs-home.html to nd out more about the gadget syntax. You can also
load further samples into the gadget editor to see what they are made of. To do so, select New from
the Google Gadget Editor’s File menu.
If you choose Google’s gadget hosting, note that all your saved les will share the same folder, and someone
knowing the folder name may be able to guess your lename. It is advisable to not publish anything within your
gadget that you wouldn’t want the world to see.
